I-SCREEN at FLORetina 2025: Advancing AI-Supported Eye Screening
The I-SCREEN team was in Florence to take part in the FLORetina 2025 Congress, one of the leading international events in retinal research and clinical practice.
Several I-SCREEN clinical partners contributed to the scientific programme, including Prof. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ursula Schmidt-Erfurth (Medical University of Vienna) and Dr. Javier Zarranz-Ventura (Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer – IDIBAPS). Their presentations addressed the role of artificial intelligence in routine OCT imaging and community-based screening.
On Friday, 5 December, Louise Enzendorfer (Medical University of Vienna) presented the design and concept of the I-SCREEN study, outlining its approach to supporting early detection and improved screening pathways through AI-based solutions.
The congress also provided an opportunity for the I-SCREEN team to connect with colleagues and exchange views on how AI can support better eye screening in routine clinical care.
